I got braces at 29 years old!

This has been a long overdue life update but honestly it has been such a process and an uncomfortable one at that, but here we are, braces at 29. So a little backstory on my dental journey. I have been lucky that I’ve never had any dental issues such as cavities, for that I am grateful for. However I have always had a overbite and severe crowding. It was to the point that my overbite was so extended out when I smiled you really couldn’t see the crowding. For years I was told that I needed braces and that it was not for cosmetic reasons but due to the way my bite was effecting my dental health. The crowding, grinding of teeth at night ( due to anxiety) and gum sensitivity ( due to my thyroid removal surgery) had caused my teeth to deteriorate. So this had really gotten to the point where my dentist said let’s try to fix your bite to stop all these issues. This decision honestly brought on a lot of emotions for me, especially when I was told how long I would have to keep in these traditional braces and that I needed four teeth to be extracted. I’m a model, I create beauty content and unfortunately braces isn’t something that you see too often so I mentally associated it with being something negative.

All in all, once I accepted the fact that this needed to happen I pushed forward. Now here we are 5 months in and I can say that I am still adjusting but I am definitely accepting them. I decided I wanted to vlog and capture this journey the best I could so I did post a video on my YouTube page which I will link below. My orthodontist is forecasting that I will have them on for 30 months. We are hoping that is the case or maybe even sooner. I have been following all the dentist orders and trying to keep my teeth clean for every tightening. So join me on this journey! I hope to post some updates on the blog as well.
